Peeking out of Cave

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

I’m briefly peeking out of my cave, just for a moment. I’m not doing a TT this week, I’m just swamped both at home and with my EDJ and Writing job.

I’ll try to get around to as many of you TTers that I can. Hope you’re having a great Thursday Thirteen. :)

POST SCRIPT: Check out the Six Degrees of Sexy Thursday Thirteen here.

Poetry Monday

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

I’m being nice to Sparky Duck today, I’m not doing a Christmas poem. Instead here’s a little snippet from my current work in progress The Dragon’s Mate. It’s my first time at Fantasy. :P

As for Enchanted the movie, it’s enchanting. Seriously, I loved it. Everyone should go see it. I had a blast with my daughter, and she loved it too. Patrick Dempsey in a 18th Century type garb *swoon*, him dressed like that now that’s McDreamy.

He listened, he listened and tracked the hunted prey. His eyes, able to scan and see all that was in his domain of the forest. He almost laughed out loud when he saw that the soldiers of El-Shar hunted the marked virgin. He could hear their thoughts, although he could not see the marked virgin. He could smell her fear, smell her defiance.

Where are you little one? What a great coup it would be for the Dragon to awake and deflower the marked virgin. Then it would end the line of the Othgar kings. He would return and kill the reigning Othgar King, and no heir would step up to take his place. His revenge would be complete.

His cock twitched involuntarily as he thought about it. Not only the pleasure of having his revenge on Othgar’s descendents; but the thought of a woman. The thought of a warm blooded El-Shar woman impaled on his cock, especially the thought of one untouched. One pure. He growled deep within his chest

His blood heated as he thought about that. It had been too long since he had a woman. The dragon fire in him coursed through his blood. He looked down at his hands to see the pattern of his green scales emerging from his human El-Shar flesh. He concentrated, and the scales disappeared. If he came upon the virgin he did not want to frighten her with the appearance of the dragon. If he happened on the soldiers first… he would try to not to harm them, much.

I dids it all by meself

I was a pampered daughter. My dad built things, I didn’t really use tools etc., I never really lived on my own before. Just couldn’t afford to go away to school. I lived, worked, and did community college whilst living at home. Besides my contribution helped my parents during some tough times.

Then I got engaged, and moved in, across the province (my parents have since moved here) with my fiancee now husband. He took on the building of things.

Yesterday I went to Walmart, I needed some laminate shelving for our closet. Our closet is bursting despite the fat clothes purge I did when I dropped 40lbs. My DH was working late last night (he didn’t get home till 1 a.m.,) and I was home, caught up on everything. I had even baked. BAKED. I wanted to clean and I wanted those shelves to be built. So I did it. I built two closet organizer shelves myself.

I know some of you are saying big Whoop de doo Amy. Hey I didn’t even know what a Philips #2 was until yesterday. I know I am a blow for Woman’s rights, but I was of the mind “Hey if someone else is gonna do it …” well now I can. :D

I was very proud of my small accomplishment. Though I was hammering during Sumo’s favorite show that he growled and said in a very whiny voice “MOMEEE!” and rolled his eyes (he’s not even two yet!!!).

That was my adventure yesterday. DH was impressed, really impressed until I started about using a saw. LOL!

As for writing I’ve been doing really well on a story my Muse was nagging me to write. She didn’t want me working on NaNo. She wanted me to work on another story, and then she gave me an idea for another one, so I am working on two simultaneously. Sven will be happy when I check in this Sunday. :)

I’ll have to take a break tomorrow, tomorrow I am taking my daughter to see Enchanted.

Anything exciting happening with you? Anything you need me to build? LOL!

Thursday Thirteen

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

I thought I would 13 random things that happened to me or occurred to me this week.

1. I was watching the movie Can’t Buy Me Love. You remember from the 1980’s about a nerdy guy who bails out the popular girl and buying her for a month to get him in the “cool” crowd. Here’s a picture to refresh your memory.

2. Watching the movie I realized CRAP I’ve seen that Dude somewhere before. Then came the head smack D’OH! I know that guy here he is now:

Patrick Dempsey was that nerdy boy from Can’t Buy Me Love. D’OH! Ya, he’s come a LOOOONG way.

3. We put up our Christmas decorations and my son called the Christmas lights, EGG. I kept saying no honey their lights. But he would shake his head and say NO EGGS. Well, they kind of look like multicolored Eggs, I guess.

4. I was reading a random piece of news on Yahoo and apparently Sesame Street Old School has a parental warning that it’s not suitable for Children today. Apparently according to reasoning Cookie Monster is seriously on his way to diabetes, Gordon inviting a new kid on the street to have milk and cookies with him and his wife is EVIL, Oscar is sadly depressed, Big Bird believes in imaginary friends and Bert and Ernies apartment is too dinghy. UH OK, but did I honestly think of these things when I was watching Sesame Street when I was a child. NO! In fact my own child loves the Old School Sesame Street, much more than the overly happy annoying Elmo.

5. Delving more into my past as a young child of the late 70’s early 80’s, it seems to be that kind of week reliving things, I found and bought then watched this campy B movie.

6. Then I started working on a new story. So I was looking for inspiration and found this:

7. AND This:

9. Hubby and I went shop and I found an Atari system with like 20 games on it. So last night I was playing Atari Skydiver with my daughter who is surprisingly good at it. She’s four and she whipped my ass!

10. Apparently according to People magazine the Sexiest Man Alive this year is this guy:

11. I still think it should be this guy:

12. Apparently Fabio and George Clooney are fighting. BIZARRE, ya that’s the weirdest story I read this week. Here’s Fabio in his hay day of Mr. Romance Cover model. Ack I can’t Believe it’s not butter:

13. I thought I would leave you with something funny as my head has started to pound again. Just like the wet cold rain against my window pane.

Another Good Review

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Very happy Masque of Desire got another good review from Love Romances. You can read the review here.

I also feel like I’m going to be sick when I read a review of my book. It’s because as a writer you sweat and slave over the piece, and to you it’s never finished. You just want it to be enjoyed and well received … but when it is and someone talks about it, well it makes me sick with worry. I get like a mini anxiety attack going.

Red usually checks them out for me before hand (yes I am a wussy) but she’s away and I foolishly opened the link and looked. You know like when you squish a spider, you know it’ll be gross but you just have to look anyways. Ya, that feeling.

At least this time (fingers crossed I haven’t had a bad one yet) it was good. :D

Back on the Train

Monday, November 19th, 2007

I’m back for a Poetry Train. It’s been so long since I rode the train, but I’m here, coughing still, but here.

With my limerick about Christmas, be prepared for some Christmas themed poems for a while (you’re gonna puke by December 25th muwahahahahaha).

Jolly and Old
Bringing lots of joy to kids
Old Saint Nick

That’s the start. I have to dig out the funny poem I did to the Twas the Night before Christmas, that I did in highschool. But I’ll save that one for Christmas!

Happy Poetry Monday!!!

Happy Birthday

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

Just a special Happy Birthday to a couple of people today. Robin L. Rotham, Happy Birthday kiddo.

It’s also my Dad’s birthday today. He was the youngest of Eight. He was born exactly 18 years apart (to the day) from his eldest brother Jim. I always sympathized with my late uncle Jim that his 18th birthday present was another BROTHER! His father was exactly the age my Dad is today when my Dad was born 61! Yes, I never knew my grandfather, he was born 1885 during the time Laura Ingalls was marrying Wilder. Surreal huh. That’s why most of my cousins are as old as my MOTHER.

Anyways Happy Birthday DAD!! The man who read to me every night and gave me my dry sarcastic humor, inspired me to have an amazing imagination, talked nonsensical history with me, told me I was number 2 after my daughter was born. He never sheltered us from things, always believed in opening your mind and not censoring (well censoring what was appropriate). Thanks Dad I love you.

Talking Naughty tomorrow

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

I know hard to believe it but I do. LOL!

Tomorrow, Myself and the rest of the Sexies will be talking at Club Naughty tomorrow from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., EST I am sure it’s going to be a rollicking good time. Tee hee.

You can join in here.

I started on my NaNo again. I doubt that I will finish this year, but I am glad to participate again even if I don’t make it to 50k. My last year NaNo was a success on so many levels. It was the faster I ever churned out a complete manuscript, it was a story that had been bouncing around in my head for three years but I couldn’t get out, I met the FABULOUS Christine D’abo from that experience (It’s our one year Frienassance Christine LOL!!!) and even though I thought it was full of nonsense and put it away for like a year, I managed to drag it out of the darkness and turn it into something marketable and it’s sold as my second book. Fox’s Bride is all about a woman pirate, who pirates to free slaves in Jamaica during the early 1700’s. She also smuggles rum and her aristocratic husband “Fox” has no idea. LOL! I’ll keep you up to date on it when I know more about it. :)

I would love to finish the current project I am working on for NaNo in the rest of the allotted time. If I don’t do it … I manage it for Sven cause he’s been riding me about not reporting in. EEP.

I also have been a good girl and getting my story boards back up to par. And thanks to Joely I am making a visual story board, so when I bought People Magazine’s Sexiest Men Issue I was able to justify it to hubby. *giggle*.

So what are your plans for the rest of the weekend?

Big Congrats

I have a bad infection, that’s been around since I first got sick in the fall. It would dissipate then it would come back. Well you all know, it’s actually a bad deep rooted sinus infection. I was in agony last night, I was on Tylenol 3 and this morning I couldn’t keep any meds down. I finally was able to keep down a pain killer and the pain has diminished a little bit and I’m starting to keep stuff down.

That’s why I haven’t been around. It’s a good excuse to get caught up on my TBR pile. LOL!!! And there has been so many great e-books released that my pile is HUGE!!!

Also tomorrow, I am blogging at Six Degrees of Sexy. I’m interviewing E-book author Harris Channing, author of Speed Trap.

So check it out tomorrow here.
