It’s Leap Day

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Yep the thing that only happens once every four years. It’s also my grandfather and his wife’s birthday today. I’m going out of town to visit him for his 75th, when actuality it’s only his what 18th?? I don’t know, I’m too tired to figure it out. We got another dumping of snow.

I made a Red Velvet Cake yesterday in between breaks of writing my chapter for me and Christine’s book. I have to say the book we’re writing is SO out of my comfort zone and I write freaking Romantica for Ellora’s Cave. LOL!

But it’s fun and juicing up the muse. *Ahem* that being said C I am waiting for Chapter Three so I can write Chapter Four. ;)

So I won’t be around this weekend. See above. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Fuzzy and Blue

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

I got up early, getting ready for my EDJ, feeling actual on the ball and productive … until I heard Grover, Harry Monster and Cookie singing on Play with Me Sesame. “Fuzzy and blue, you see me fuzzy blue.”

Not that I have anything wrong with that, I love the blue fuzzies from Sesame Street. So I climb into my car, listening to Timbaland. Am I singing something cool like Apologize or Give it to Me. NO. Fuzzy and Blue you see me Fuzzy and Blue.

Nothing like preparing legal documents for Court or talking to a judge or a lawyer with Fuzzy blue going over and over and over again in your head.

And just to totally FREAK your mind I found Fuzzy and Blue on You Tube in Dutch. No offence to Dutch people, I have Dutch blood in my family, but hearing Grover speak Dutch … way too funny. I like the language, I just don’t know about Grover speaking it. LOL!

INSANITY

Monday, February 25th, 2008

I joined Seventy Days of Sweat with Sven again. I managed a triumphant first round, my second round saw me living in edits hell for two months so I dropped out, so I’m ready for Round 3. More than ready, have 3 manuscripts to finish before Nationals.

My challenge with Christine is going well, except my hand hurts and my head hurts. I think I far surpassed my goal of 5,000 words last week … by 10,000 words. My goal this week … I’m still shooting for 5,000 words, 10,000 words was WAY to lucky.

Can’t get it outta my head

Monday, February 25th, 2008

I have been writing, I haven’t been watching TV, but I still can’t get Doctor Who and Torchwood out of my head. I compare everything to it, mostly life. I’ve adopted the saying “What would Captain Jack do?”

That’s my philosophy and I have my idol a 5 inch Captain Jack figurine sitting on my night stand with a 5 inch Dr. Who and Rose Tyler. I’ve lost my mind, I literally have lost my freaking mind.

It could be the fact that in the last day I managed to write 15,000 words. I have no idea how, but my hand hurts ALOT.

How is the challenge going for you? Who’s tired of freaking winter yet?

Oh and the answer to what would Captain Jack do? He’d probably snog everything in sight, sounds like a good idea … for the most part.

“Have you ever eaten Alien meat?”-Gwen

“Yep,”-Captain Jack

“Did you enjoy it?”-Gwen

“He certainly did.”-Captain Jack

Hehehe

Marissa Alwin pointed out I didn’t mention the falls when I talked about my trip. *Blush*, must have …slipped my mind as it were. LOL!

Here’s a picture from our hotel room. I managed to write about 2k last night despite my bawling. I watched the last two episodes of Doctor Who Season 2 where the Doctor looses Rose, the woman he loves. I was crying and crying … it was messy, and now I’m grumpy about it. My only consolation is she’s coming back in Season 4, HOPEFULLY to stay.

Back

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Well I had a great time. I feel relaxed and refreshed and I wish I could have stolen that big deep jacuzzi bathtub for my own. *sigh*. I’m tall so regular standard bathtubs don’t cut it. That’s why I shower as opposed to soaking in a tub.

However, if I had a tub like that I would be having a bath everynight instead of a shower everynight. I’m trying to convince hubby of this, the nakedness to be had if he would only purchase us a deep soaker jacuzzi tub. I mean our current bathroom needs renos badly. It’s still stuck in the 70’s.

As for my word count, didn’t do too hot, only managed 3k as opposed to the 5k I set for myself. So I’ll try this week to make it to 5k. Fingers crossed.

At least my work week is shorter because of our new Canadian (but not observed by every province and or town) Stat Holiday. So I’m off by a day.

I’ve been away

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

I know I’ve been a bad blogger, and I’ll be even worse. Hubby surprised me with a night getaway in Niagara Falls for Sunday and Monday. :D

So that’s where I’ll be. Kids will be with their aunt and me … I’ll be dabbling (I hear you laughing Christine!!) in a jacuzi whirlpool tub overlooking the majestic Niagara Falls!! :D

I’ll be back late Monday night so I’ll talk to y’all on Tuesday, where I will be a better blogger I swear! :D

Another Great Review for Masque

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

I was so delighted to read my review from Romance Junkies about Masque of Desire. You can read the whole review here

It got 4 Ribbons!! YAY!!! Here’s a little of what the reviewer Jenn L had to say about Masque and me:

MASQUE OF DESIRE is not short on heat either; the encounters with Alex and Miranda are steamy and highly erotic. For a short tale the pages are filled with plenty of strong dialogue, clever characters and a love story that comes across as real and not contrived.

MASQUE OF DESIRE is a quick read that will leave you satisfied and looking for more of Ms. Ruttan’s work.

Thanks so much Jenn L!! You made my day in the midst of a crazy snowstorm looming in. Made me feel all warm and happy  … like it was Spring. :D

Now I better get back to work! LOL!

Meet my Hero

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

So I thought I would share a bit about what I’m working on. The tentative title Range War. Don’t know if it’ll stay that way. It’s a working title; but I thought I would share my hero:

Gallagher Barrowman (yes I gave him a surname after John Barrowman) ;) He’s half human, half Steripian. His eyes are reptilian like and when he gets turned on … his eyes turn from aquamarine to obsidian did I mention he sports fangs.

Yes he looks like Aragorn. I thought by introducing characters on my blog would help me get to know them better. Gallagher’s story has been coming strong today.

I wrote 2,000 words today. So only 3,000 words and I’ve made my goal. I’ll try to keep it up and introduce various characters from my Published and some unpublished works on Tuesdays. It’s a fun way to visualize.
