Still Plotting

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Yep, I promised you I’d keep it up, and I am.

Actually, it’s coming along amazingly. I’m surprised. I worked ahead, I couldn’t help myself. Now I’m writing draft scenes for each chapter. Just blurbs so that I know what I will be writing about. Next I’ll be making a Timeline and then formatting a Table of Contents. Then I can work on writing and this should help if I get a block because I’ll know what happens within a scene.

It’s a lot of work up front, but the theory in this book is if you do this you won’t have to go back and back and you’ll be able to see your plot holes a lot easier. And as I’ve gone a long and layered more I’ve found a few holes. It’s great. Well, not great that I’ve found the holes, but great I haven’t written the whole dang thing and then have become blind to them.

But I’m still plotting and that’s why I’ve been MIA. :)

I’m plotting today

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

No seriously I am. I’m plotting.

The plotting side of Amy isn’t like Polkaroo, she does exist. She just rarely comes out, and if she does it’s always when no one else is around to prove her existence. ;)

I have too many stories on the go, too many things to keep track of. Plotting in this case is essential. I generally fly by the seat of my pants, but last night I started blending two different stories … and trust me they were totally different.

My characters were confused for a while there, they didn’t know where they were or what they were supposed to do. Whoops. What was my poor Viking doing floating in outer space, his poor iron sword brandished wondering why he had disappeared from his long boat, cursing Loki and waving his broad sword madly as his horned helmet slowly floated away.

Whereas I had my proper Victorian hero jammed in a Contemporary erotic romance … although he didn’t mind the mixup. Not at all.

Now, everyone is back where they are supposed to be, though my Victorian hero keeps trying to jump back over to the erotic romance *sigh*, and I’m plotting.

Before I had the baby I started reading and working from Write Your Novel in 30 Days by Karen S. Wiesner. I have all the character sketches done, I know my characters inside and out now so now I just have to pick up where I left off. Just like a diet I plan on doing writing every day, whether plotting or actually get word count down. It’s going to happen and you all are my witnesses.

Today is day 1, today I am working on my Scene Sketches … since the characters are done.

So yes, the plotting side of Amy does exist … and so does the Polkaroo.

A Couple Things

Tomorrow, August 17th, I’m blogging at the Romance Studio. :) Also tomorrow on August 17th, I will be over at Lena Matthews Yahoo Group, I’m giving away a print copy of Tempting Turquoise for her Book-A-Day-Give-Away. You can join in the fun here.

Other than that I’ve been deep in my writing cave, except for a brief trip to the movie theatre. It had been a while since I went, and I finally got to see Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince. A lot of people were disappointed in the movie version, I wasn’t. I thought it was well done. I mean you have to condense a large book, with many story lines into a two hour movie. I think they did a fantastic job. Of course *pout* it means I have to wait until next year for the final installment The Deathly Hallows.

Lately I haven’t been patient. LOL!

Other than that its been writing, writing, writing in between spurts of purging and cleaning my house now that I’m semi back to my old self again. All healed an anxious to get my poor neglected space in order.

Almost Forgot!
