Thursday Thirteen
I thought I would 13 random things that happened to me or occurred to me this week.
1. I was watching the movie Can’t Buy Me Love. You remember from the 1980’s about a nerdy guy who bails out the popular girl and buying her for a month to get him in the “cool” crowd. Here’s a picture to refresh your memory.
2. Watching the movie I realized CRAP I’ve seen that Dude somewhere before. Then came the head smack D’OH! I know that guy here he is now:
Patrick Dempsey was that nerdy boy from Can’t Buy Me Love. D’OH! Ya, he’s come a LOOOONG way.
3. We put up our Christmas decorations and my son called the Christmas lights, EGG. I kept saying no honey their lights. But he would shake his head and say NO EGGS. Well, they kind of look like multicolored Eggs, I guess.
4. I was reading a random piece of news on Yahoo and apparently Sesame Street Old School has a parental warning that it’s not suitable for Children today. Apparently according to reasoning Cookie Monster is seriously on his way to diabetes, Gordon inviting a new kid on the street to have milk and cookies with him and his wife is EVIL, Oscar is sadly depressed, Big Bird believes in imaginary friends and Bert and Ernies apartment is too dinghy. UH OK, but did I honestly think of these things when I was watching Sesame Street when I was a child. NO! In fact my own child loves the Old School Sesame Street, much more than the overly happy annoying Elmo.
5. Delving more into my past as a young child of the late 70’s early 80’s, it seems to be that kind of week reliving things, I found and bought then watched this campy B movie.
6. Then I started working on a new story. So I was looking for inspiration and found this:
7. AND This:
8. AND THIS:
9. Hubby and I went shop and I found an Atari system with like 20 games on it. So last night I was playing Atari Skydiver with my daughter who is surprisingly good at it. She’s four and she whipped my ass!
10. Apparently according to People magazine the Sexiest Man Alive this year is this guy:
11. I still think it should be this guy:
12. Apparently Fabio and George Clooney are fighting. BIZARRE, ya that’s the weirdest story I read this week. Here’s Fabio in his hay day of Mr. Romance Cover model. Ack I can’t Believe it’s not butter:
13. I thought I would leave you with something funny as my head has started to pound again. Just like the wet cold rain against my window pane.

Ooooohhhh, I LIKE entering your site! The bare chested guy made my night…
I just can’t think of Matt Damon being sexy. He looks like a little kid to me. Now I’d vote for Alex O’Loughlin from Moonlight. HE’S sexy!
Smiles,
Holly

Oh, Amy, that rocks. Talk about a trip down nostalgia lane… btw, the Tour Manager and I were talking about Sesame Street, too. Amazing how times have changed — is it for the better? (I hate Elmo, too)

Patrick Dempsey got better looking, I think. His face has more character.
I just watched that movie a few weeks ago, along with Soul Man with C Thomas Howell. I think that’s his name. Those movies held up well over time. BTW, I don’t think Matt Damon is sexy at all. He gives me hives.

As far as Sesame Street is concerned, it’s not for the better Susan. Not in a long shot.

Wow, Patrick Dempsey sure improved with age. Like a fine wine LOL
Sweet inspiration, Amy. And I can’t believe it about Sesame Street. It’s PC gone mad, just like the Santas here. They’re not allowed to say ho, ho, ho because it’s derogatory to women. They have to say ha, ha, ha. I mean what short of Santa goes around saying that?
Happy TT

I remember Love At First Bite too, and I too remember it being funny. I suspect my sense of humor has changed just a bit since then though…
November 22nd, 2007 at 11:46 am
Oh, that’s depressing about Sesame Street. Whatever happened to teaching kids the difference between fantasy and reality? *sigh*
Thank goodness for your inspirational pictures–they inspired me, as well!
November 22nd, 2007 at 4:36 pm
That’s too weird about Sesame Street…I think people are getting a tad bit overly paranoid there. I grew up on those shows and I’m just fine. Love the randomness of your list! My TT is up too…here.

Remember the Sesame Street character that was in a trench coat and asked Ernie - ‘Ya wanna buy an 8?’
‘An 8?’
‘Ri-i-i-ght.’
November 22nd, 2007 at 6:29 pm
I know Julia. How EVIL!! LOL!
November 22nd, 2007 at 6:39 pm
Ohh YEah!! Old School Sesame street was the best. Far better than Elmo’s World. And in Canada they have “Sesame Park” cuz they thought that showing children playing in the street was a bad idea. LAAAME!!
I remember Love and First Bite, HIiiiiLarious…
patrick Dempsey = sexy
Also, Sawyer - Sexy Southern dude from Lost…. hot. But i wouldn’t kick Gerard Butler outta bed for eating crackers.. mmm mmmm…..
Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy TT!

I remember Sesame Park iamthediva, being Canadian and all. It SUCKED, nothing compared to that (as someone phrased it) that dinghy street.
And Love at First Bite is hilarious. I’d forgotten how silly and campy it was!! Happy TT.

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article Thursday Thirteen, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
